Xbox Series X And Series S Preorder Availability: Consoles Sold Out, Accessories In Stock

Two new Xbox consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, are launching in a matter of weeks, but unless you’ve been exceptionally lucky, you may not have been able to secure a preorder yet. The Series X and Series S release November 10 for $500 and $300, respectively, and as of now, finding either in stock is near-impossible. That said, we’re tracking console availability below along with all the major listings.

The new Xbox Wireless Controllers releasing alongside the Xbox Series X and Series S are available in Carbon Black, Robot White, and Shock Blue. The updated controllers also have a new integrated Share button for capturing and recording gameplay moments.

Preorder games for Xbox Series X and Series S

Microsoft is pushing its Xbox Game Pass subscription for next-gen, which grants access to a massive, rotating library of games for a monthly fee, including the ability to play first-party games like Halo Infinite on day one. You can still preorder some of the biggest games coming to Xbox Series X and Series S now.

Coming soon: Xbox All Access

As an alternative to paying upfront, you’ll be able to take advantage of Microsoft’s Xbox All Access program, which lets you pay for your Xbox Series X or Series S console over 24 months. If you opt for the Xbox Series X, you’ll pay $35 per month, while the Xbox Series S will cost you $25 per month.

PS5 accessories are showing up at warehouses

A bunch of PS5 accessories have reportedly been arriving at warehouses ahead of the console’s launch next month in November.

Earlier today on October 22, a slew of Reddit posts reported that PS5 accessories had been showing up in the wild. Firstly, you can see shots of the PS5 Pulse 3D headset and HD camera, in what appears to be a warehouse, just below.

Next, there’s the DualSense charging station just below. Again, this appears to be showing up at a warehouse, and this is the charging station that you’ll be able to use to charge two PS5 controllers at once.

Just spotted this at work from r/PS5

Finally, there’s Turtle Beach headsets showing up at Walmart. This time, the accessory isn’t actually in a warehouse, and is instead on a shop floor. As the Reddit post below notes though, these Turtle Beach headsets say they work with the PS5.

The Big W has Turtle Beach’s that say they work with PS5 out already from r/PS5

Just two days ago, it was reported that DualSense controllers were already being shipped out to stores. A DualSense controller appeared at Walmart earlier this week, a few weeks before the PS5 is due to go on sale on November 12.

Last week, we reported that customers were receiving notification saying that their PS5 accessories would be shipping in late October. This would likely have them arriving before the actual console itself launches, so it makes sense that we’re seeing the PS5’s accessories arriving in warehouses before the actual console itself.

It’s not just the PS5’s accessories that are going to be shipping out before the console. In the UK, games like Demon’s Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales will arrive up to a week before the console launches on November 19. These PS5 games are going to be little more than expensive paperweights until the console arrives.

Bluestone’s “COVID pivot” rockets growth, doubling revenue in 2020

Bluestone Sunshields, the premier provider of facial protection products, has just announced that Bloomingdale’s has brought the COVID-inspired line of clear shields to its stores and online as of October 19. The partnership between Bluestone and Bloomingdale’s is the first time Bluestone’s shields will be available in-store through a major fashion retailer.

“To be selected by Bloomingdale’s further validates our exacting design standards, and we hope to bring normalcy to people as these new variations become part of our daily life,” said Jen Podany, CEO of Bluestone Sunshields. “We’re honored to meet the Bloomingdale’s ‘chic and unique’ criteria.”

With the holidays just around the corner, travelers are weighing their options and looking for products to keep them safe and give them peace of mind. According to a new study from travel booking app Hopper, 74 percent of holiday travelers surveyed said they planned to fly during December, compared to only 10 percent who said they would drive their cars. Wearing eye protection may make COVID-19 transmission about three times less likely, according to a study published in The Lancet. For people who protected their eyes, the risk of transmission was reduced from to 5.5 percent from 16 percent.

The Bluestone Face Shield line started when they pivoted production to create and donate over 5,000 protective items to frontline workers in need. The shields quickly became a favorite among businesses reopening and seeking to keep their staff and customers safe. Now, as society continues to re-open and people are resuming some activities, the need to protect oneself and still look put together created a tipping point. The new product line was a strategic move that propelled the company to exceptional growth with over $1M in sales this year alone, more than double the company’s 2019 revenue.

“I’m proud of what we’ve done this year,” said Podany, “I’m an entrepreneur, the mother of two young children and have an all-female team. I hope my success will inspire other women in business to persevere even when they get thrown a curve ball.”

Bluestone Face Shields can be bought in-store at Bloomingdale’s in New York City and SoHo locations, and in its Century City, San Francisco, Costa Mesa, Sherman Oaks and Newport Beach, California, stores. The shields also can be purchased online through Bloomingdale’s at https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/jewelry-accessories/face-masks/Brand/Bluestone%20Sunshields?id=1096359.

As a result of the company’s work with top doctors, cosmetic laser manufacturers and skin care professionals, Bluestone is founded on the mission to provide

How Apple’s awesome new snap-on magnet feature works

Apple’s four new iPhone 12 models — two of which are now available to preorder — come with 5G, better cameras and the return of a beloved Apple MacBook feature: the MagSafe charger. We’ve now reviewed the iPhone 12 and can explain how the phone (which is excellent) uses magnets positioned inside the phone to attach a wireless charger and a potentially limitless number of magnetic accessories that snap onto the back of the phone, such as cases, docks, mounts and even a wallet.

Apple revived the MagSafe brand to introduce magnetically-attached accessories, such as cases and chargers.

By embracing a snap-on ethos that has failed other phone makers (more on that below), the iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max represent a bold new direction for Apple and a new way for iPhone owners to use their phones.

Here’s a look at what Apple says MagSafe does, how it works and how you might use it once you upgrade. And here’s why MagSafe is Apple’s sleeper feature that’s bigger than you think.

How does MagSafe work on iPhone 12?

The new iPhone 12 devices are embedded with what Apple describes as “an array of magnets” (Apple says they’re recycled) around a centered charging coil that can pull up to 15 watts of power — twice as powerful as wireless charging on previous iPhones (but on par with phones from other brands).

When you bring the charging end of the power cord close to the iPhone’s back, those magnets will pull it into place. The same goes for other MagSafe accessories and, depending what you’re clipping on, your iPhone will display a brief animation related to the accessory to confirm that it’s locked on.

Will iPhone 12 come with a MagSafe charging cable?

No, Apple will include only a USB-C-to-Lightning cable (and no power brick or earbuds) in the box with new iPhones. Apple’s two MagSafe charging cables — one standalone and another that also charges an Apple Watch — will be sold separately, but Apple confirmed that at least one other manufacturer, Belkin, will be selling MagSafe-compatible charging cables as well.

How much will Apple’s MagSafe accessories cost and when will they go on sale?

The standalone MagSafe iPhone charger is available for preorder for $39, with shipping listed as two to three weeks. Clear and silicone cases cost $49 with shipping in 7 to 10 business days. The leather wallet costs $59 and ships in five to six weeks. No word yet on the dual iPhone and Apple Watch charger’s price or availability.

Who were Cienfuegos’ allies and accessories in American government?

Mexico’s former defense minister, Salvador Cienfuegos, was arrested on Thursday in Los Angeles and will arrive soon in New York to face conspiracy, organized crime and money laundering charges at the same courthouse which has already convicted Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman and where former Mexican police chief Genaro Garcia Luna also stands trial.

The symbolism is powerful. The DEA, the U.S. Department of Justice and the American judiciary apparently have embarked on a fearless crusade against the most vicious international drug traffickers and their powerful accomplices in the Mexican government. “It made me very proud to be an American,” announced Judge Brian Cogan after the conviction of Guzman to life in prison.

But the real story is much more complex, and reflects much more murkily on the U.S. government. Both Garcia Luna and Cienfuegos worked closely with American law enforcement agencies while Washington coddled the Mexican presidents under which they served: Felipe Calderon (2006-2012) and Enrique Pena Nieto (2012-2018). If these top Mexican officials are as corrupt as they appear to be, then their U.S. counterparts should also be investigated for complicity with their crimes.

Cienfuegos supposedly has been under investigation for over a decade, but in June 2017, the five-star general held a high profile meeting with then-CIA Director Mike Pompeo and then-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly in which they even supervised together the destruction of a poppy field. In 2018, Cienfuegos received the prestigious William J. Perry Award for Excellence in Security and Defense Education from the United States Department of Defense.

During the Obama administration, Washington worked closely with Garcia Luna on numerous missions, including the scandalous Operation Fast and Furious, which between 2009 and 2011 involved the illegal purchase and exportation to Mexico of almost 2,000 firearms worth $1.5 million. The former FBI chief in Mexico City during the Calderon administration, Raul Roldan, was until recently a member of the board of Garcia Luna’s private security company, GLAC Consulting.

In 2008, Obama and Calderon signed the Merida Initiative, establishing close collaboration between the two governments. The initiative “open(ed) a chapter of historic cooperation and acknowledge(ed) the shared responsibilities of the United States and Mexico to counter drug-fueled violence threatening citizens on both sides of the border,” according to official documents. It provided a framework for intensive information sharing and for billions of dollars of funding for the purchase of military equipment and supposedly “strengthening public institutions” south of the border.

Both the Trump and Obama administrations have promoted vast arms sales to the Mexican government: More than $3 billion have been appropriated by Congress under the Merida Initiative, still in effect today, and legal U.S. firearm and ammunition exports to Mexico today roughly total about $40 million a year, according to U.S. Census Bureau trade records. Although there have been critiques of the Mexican government´s human rights record, not once has either U.S. administration suggested suspending arms sales due to corruption in Mexican law enforcement.

The United States government has also turned

The barrier for entry into filmmaking is lower than it’s ever been thanks to the technology available in your pocket: in 2020, you can make movies using just your iPhone and a few key accessories. And iPhone cinematography isn’t relegated to indie directors — Steven Soderbergh shot his films “Unsane” and “High Flying Bird” on an iPhone and even told IndieWire in 2018 that he would likely keep doing it.

“I think this is the future,” he said at Sundance that year. “Anybody going to see this movie who has no idea of the backstory to the production will have no idea this was shot on the phone. That’s not part of the conceit.”

Thanks to the iPhone’s ability to shoot 4K ultra HD footage, it’s a game-changer for the director, who has also said he’s done with major studio films.

“I’d have to have a pretty good reason not to be thinking about [shooting on iPhones] first” as he moves forward, he said. “There’s a philosophical obstacle a lot of people have about the size of the capture device. I don’t have that problem. I look at this as potentially one of the most liberating experiences that I’ve ever had as a filmmaker, and that I continue having. …This is, to me, a new chapter.”

Want to channel your inner Soderbergh? We’ve rounded up a few gear choices below that will help make your indie film or documentary or whatever you’re planning to shoot look as polished and professional as possible. Check out our choices below.

You likely already have an iPhone, but if not your best bet is the most recent release. The iPhone makes our list of the most affordable cameras for filmmakers, thanks to its ability to record in high-quality formats (from 720p HD at 30 fps up to 4K at 60 fps, depending on the model of your device) and its pro-level telephoto lenses.

Price: $14.99 in the app store

You’ll also want an app that can capture your high-quality footage — Filmic Pro is unsurpassed, used by Sean Baker on “The Florida Project” and “Tangerine,” the Netflix pandemic-produced anthology series “Social Distance,” and many a music video (including Lady Gaga’s “Stupid Love”). Baker’s groundbreaking work on “Tangerine,” which was shot with three iPhone 5s smartphones, has earned him and the film a spot in the upcoming Academy Museum — it officially acquired one of the iPhones Baker and cinematographer Radium Cheung used to film the groundbreaking 2015 indie hit. And along with the use of Filmic Pro to better control the focus and aperture of the iPhone camera, Baker and Cheung used an anamorphic adapter to shoot in widescreen and a Steadicam to capture tracking shots.

Everything You Need To Know

It’s been barely a week, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are available for pre-order but haven’t reached stores yet, and already there’s a gigantic amount of confusion in the market about MagSafe cases and accessories. Below, I’ve listed the best MagSafe cases and accessories. But first, let’s talk about what MagSafe is and what it isn’t.

MagSafe previously referred to the charging system Apple used for its MacBooks. The charger magnetically attached to the side of the laptop and automatically aligned itself. If it was tugged or tripped over, rather than sending your entire computer to the floor, it would disconnect safely. Mag. Safe. Get it?

MORE FROM FORBESThe Best iPhone 12 Cases & iPhone 12 Pro Cases, From OtterBox To Casetify

Apple has revitalized the brand to refer to a new ecosystem of cases and accessories for the iPhone 12 line of devices (though there’s no doubt in my mind that MagSafe will find its way into future iPads as well). This new version of MagSafe is similar in purpose. The magnets embedded in your iPhone quickly and easily allow an accessory, be it a case or a charger or a mount, to be properly aligned on your device.

As of right now there are only three companies offering MagSafe devices for pre-order: Apple, Otterbox, and Belkin. A lot of companies have jumped into the fray to offer “MagSafe compatible” devices. While this sounds good, they’re not actually MagSafe devices.

MORE FROM FORBESIs The iPhone 12 Worth It? Full Review & Buyer’s Guide

Instead, they simply won’t impede MagSafe functionality on your new iPhone 12. It’s like all those cases that are “wireless charging compatible.” It’s not that they charge your phone, they just don’t impede wireless charging. Oh, and if they have magnets in them, it’s probably because they work with that company’s line of magnetic accessories, not Apple MagSafe.

As manufacturers get their hands on MagSafe and start playing with it, we’ll see a lot more iPhone 12 cases, chargers, and mounts. But, for now, if you want something that clips onto your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro like magic, here are the best (and only) MagSafe cases and MagSafe accessories you can buy right now.

MagSafe Cases for iPhone 12

Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe

Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe (for iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro) – (PRODUCT)RED

Apple has a new collection of MagSafe cases ready to go in a wide assortment of colors. The cases work in a way that actually makes me want to buy multiple cases. You line up the case, you pop it on, and it clicks into place. There’s no massaging the edges around the device or worrying that you’re going to bend your iPhone. It just works.

The Kumquat paired with the new Pacific Blue iPhone 12 Pro combo is my favorite so far. It really
